Awareness Campaign and Free Day for Early Detection of Prostate Cancer at Al-Maouna Hospital in JubAl-Maouna Hospital in Juba, in collaboration with Trafficare Medical Tourism, is organizing a free awareness day for the early detection of prostate cancer on February 15th. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to raise health awareness among the citizens of South Sudan and emphasize the importance of regular check-ups to prevent this disease, which is one of the most common types of cancer among men. The free awareness day will include an educational lecture about prostate tumors, their symptoms, and how to detect them early. A significant turnout is expected, particularly from men in the age groups most at risk. The event will also offer free medical examinations for attendees and discounts on tests and scans, supervised by Dr. Abdelaty El-Manaei, a urology consultant and chairman of Trafficare.
The event aims to encourage men not to ignore early symptoms that may indicate prostate issues, which are often overlooked due to fear or embarrassment. Dr. El-Manaei, a urology consultant at Al-Maouna Hospital, emphasized that early detection plays a crucial role in increasing recovery rates and reducing complications. He stated, "Prostate cancer is a disease that can be controlled if detected in its early stages. Therefore, we advise all men over the age of 50, or those with a family history of the disease, to undergo regular screenings."
Mr. Kamsour Suleiman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Maouna Hospital, expressed his happiness with the establishment of this event, noting that such initiatives contribute to enhancing health awareness and encouraging the community to take care of their health. He added, "Through these campaigns, we aim to break the barrier of fear and reach as many men as possible to educate them about the importance of early screening." He affirmed that Al-Maouna Hospital is a home for everyone and carries a humanitarian mission in treating patients, promising to repeat such events in other specialties in the future.
It is worth noting that prostate cancer affects one in every eight men during their lifetime, and statistics indicate that early detection can increase recovery rates to over 90%. This event is part of a series of awareness activities organized by Trafficare Medical Tourism in collaboration with local health institutions. The company has previously launched numerous health initiatives and events in Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Chad, and South Sudan.
