Awareness Campaign and Free Prostate Cancer Screening Day at Fidelity Hospital
Fidelity Hospital in Juba, in collaboration with TraveCare for Medical Tourism, is organizing a free awareness and early detection day for prostate cancer on February 28. This initiative aims to raise health awareness among the people of South Sudan and emphasize the importance of regular screenings for the prevention of this disease, which is one of the most common cancers among men.
The free awareness day will include an educational lecture on prostate tumors, their symptoms, and how to detect them early. A large turnout is expected, especially from age groups at higher risk. Attendees will receive free medical check-ups and ultrasound scans, along with discounted diagnostic tests, conducted by Dr. Abdelaty El-Mannaee, Consultant Urologist and Chairman of TraveCare.
This event aims to encourage men not to ignore early symptoms that may indicate prostate issues, as these are often overlooked due to fear or embarrassment.
Dr. El-Mannaee, Consultant Urologist at Fidelity Hospital, emphasized that early detection plays a crucial role in increasing recovery rates and reducing complications. He stated:
"Prostate cancer is a manageable disease if detected in its early stages. Therefore, we advise all men over the age of 50, or those with a family history of the disease, to undergo regular screenings."
From his side, Mr. Francis Anyie jor Assistant manager of Fidelity Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm for launching this event, highlighting that such initiatives help promote health awareness and encourage the community to take care of their well-being. He added:
"Through these campaigns, we aim to break the barrier of fear and reach as many men as possible to educate them on the importance of early detection."
He also reaffirmed that Fidelity Hospital is committed to serving the community with a humanitarian mission in patient care and promised to expand similar initiatives across other medical specialties in the future.
It is worth noting that one in every eight men is diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Statistics indicate that early detection can increase survival rates to over 90%. This event is part of a series of awareness activities organized by TraveCare for Medical Tourism in collaboration with local healthcare institutions. The company has previously launched multiple health initiatives and campaigns across Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Chad, and South Sudan.
